Can the Baghead return to haunt the Baggies
At one time, he had all the potential in the world, and there was a feeling about the place that he could be the answer to our problems, and goal-related prayers.
This Saturday, the spliff smoking, sharp shooting Saido Berahino returns to the Hawthorns, a place which was his home for more than 10 years, just a fortnight after a deal had been struck to break the England u21’s Black Country shackles for good. The £12 million man and his newly adopted Stoke team travel to face an in-form West Brom in a fixture that is sure to be hotly contested, with no love lost between the teams.
With just a single goal separating the two sides in their last 4 meetings, the midlands derby is set to be another cagey fixture, and judging by the way football seems to go, Berahino may be the key to unlock the WBA defence. With odds for him to score anytime at 13/5, is it almost inevitable that the former baggie will return to bite the hand that fed him, and if he gets a start, then a 7/1 fgs bet doesn’t seem a bad shout either.
Moving away from Berahino, West Brom’s form, particularly at home, has helped cement their position in the middle/upper echelons in the premier league, with even a few optimistic punters backing them to secure a European spot come the end of the season. This has been largely due to a strong core of experienced players, and a wall-like defence, which is the envy of many opponents, and also a certain US politician. At 13/10, the Baggies aren’t a bad shout to bump up any accumulator.
